Within the scope of the “Narco Youth” program organized in cooperation with our University’s Addiction Combat Application and Research Center and Bolu Provincial Police Department Combat Narcotic Crimes Branch Directorate, students were given awareness training on the danger of drugs and substance addiction.
In the training held in our faculty's Conference Hall, the fight against narcotic crimes was discussed under 3 headings and it was emphasized that narcotic substances threaten the young generations and thus the future of countries, that narcotic substances are the main reasons that weaken countries economically, culturally and sociologically, and that narcotic substances constitute an important financial source of criminal and terrorist organizations.
Students were enlightened on what drugs are, substance abuse and the addiction cycle, reasons for starting to use drugs, physical, psychological and social symptoms of substance use, the legal status of people who sell or use drugs, and similar issues.
“There are drugs that can cause addiction even with a single use.”
In the presentation, it was emphasized that “No drug, including cigarettes and alcohol, is a solution to any problem. On the contrary, it adds even bigger problems to existing problems. There are drugs that are addictive even with a single use. As the amount of substance use increases, the false sense of well-being decreases.”
It was noted that Article 192 of the Turkish Penal Code is not widely known, and that according to this article, there is no criminal action if a person who uses drugs goes to treatment institutions on his own, without being detained by any law enforcement officer and without being involved in any crime.
It was explained how to use the anti-drug application UYUMA, which can be downloaded to mobile phones.
The program ended after Faculty Secretary Birol Yurtseven presented the certificates of appreciation.
