Abant Izzet Baysal University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences was established in Bolu in 1978 under the name of the School of Dispatch and Administration, affiliated to the Ankara Academy of Economic and Commercial Sciences. In 1978-1979 academic year, it started education with 202 students at university level. The High School was connected to Gazi University in 1983 and named the "Bolu School of Administrative Sciences". Later, it was converted into a Faculty and continued its existence under the name of "Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences" in 1987. Since 1992, Abant Izzet Baysal University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Business Administration has been continuing its education and training.

Course methods

Lessons are taught theoretically and computer laboratories are used for necessary lessons. There is also projection in classrooms to be used in lecture presentations.

Job opportunities

Students who graduate from the Department of Business Administration can work in public and private institutions. They can work in the marketing, human resources, accounting, finance, management and production departments of businesses. There is no compulsory internship in the department.



The Department of Economics trains economists who will work to conduct research and practice at various stages of economic life, and provides academic formation to individuals who will work in the public and private sectors, using quantitative techniques such as mathematics, statistics and econometrics. Economics education covers two basic processes. The first of these is to teach the economic principles and tools to be used in post-university life and thus to train the qualified workforce that is required by the economic units trying to succeed in the rapidly changing global conditions. The second is to develop the systematic and independent thinking skills of the students, which can be useful in all areas of human life, and to give them scientific discipline in economic matters. In this framework, graduates have the opportunity to work in a wide range of fields by including courses on business, finance and law besides economics courses in the department of economics. After the successful completion of compulsory and predominantly theoretical courses for the first three years, students of the department of economics are also provided to increase their practical skills by directing them to elective courses in the final year. Thus, students are tried to benefit from a wide range of courses and thus graduate with a strong educational background.

The aim of our department is to equip our students with a level of theory and knowledge to solve economic problems encountered in the national and international arena. This program is designed to provide students with creative solution skills and prepare them for a career in the public institution and the private sector. In the department of economics there are branches of Economics Theory, Economic Policy, Economic Development and International Economics, History of Economics.

Job opportunities

Department graduates are sought as Economists in the labor market. While some of the graduates find job opportunities in the public sector, most of them are employed in the private sector. Some of them are thrown into the business world as entrepreneurs. Our graduates take part in all stages from the most efficient use of scarce resources in the institutions they work to the production process to the marketing of the produced goods with the most appropriate methods.



The purpose of the Public Administration Department is to train managers who will take part in various management levels of the public sector, have the theoretical knowledge required by the modern management approach and that can transfer this information into practice. In the training process, in accordance with the qualified managers to train objective, Turkey's socio-economic, political and administrative structure problems of theoretical and lots addition to specialized courses examining the analytical approach, especially businesses, several also from other related disciplines, especially in economics and finance field lessons are given. Some courses from other disciplines are elective, and selection can be made based on interest. The various management levels of the ministries and the Inspection Boards, the District Governorate, the Court of Accounts, the Public Economic Enterprises and their inspection boards, the State Planning Organization, various units affiliated to local governments and similar organizations constitute the leading employment areas for graduates.



The aim of the program is to reveal the context of historical and intellectual development of the modern state, full of regional and global conflicts; to examine the reasons why the liberal democratic nation-state has come to a superior form of modern state and to analyze how and why the relations between states have changed in the face of structures and forces that mobilize globalization, with their political, economic and cultural dimensions.

The ultimate goal is to train our graduate students as individuals with a sense of nationality and modernity that is in line with solid foundations, equipped with vast general cultural accumulation and with expert knowledge in the versatile areas of international relations. Our graduates will have the opportunity to work not only in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but also in other public institutions and organizations and in the fields required by the private sector.

For this purpose, courses such as Political Science, History of Political Thought, Contemporary State Systems, Constitutional Law are also given as well as International Politics, International Organizations, and International Law courses that form the main body of the discipline.

Our graduates, who have taken the title of International Relations Specialist, have the opportunity to find a wide range of jobs. They can find jobs in related fields of other public and private sectors, especially the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.



Public Finance Department consists of Public Finance Theory, Financial Economics, Budget and Financial Planning and Financial Law.

Finance Science is an area that deals with the income and expenditures of the state in general. In the finance department, which is the subject of income and expenditures of the state, besides financial information, economics and law-based information are also provided.

The education period in the finance department is 4 years in total. Although the courses are theoretical, recent developments in this field are also transferred to the students.

Those who complete the department are given an undergraduate diploma. Our students who graduated from the finance department; They can find jobs in various units of the public sector, universities, and in various fields of the private sector, especially the Ministry of Finance.

Econometrics is a discipline that examines the relationships between economic data in an empirical way using mathematics and statistical methods. The main purpose of econometrics is to analyze various economic problems and to ensure the most appropriate economic decisions. With the rapidly developing computer technology in recent years, the possibilities of developing economic theories with numerical analysis have increased and this has caused the Econometrics branch to progress rapidly.

Econometrics Department; It consists of departments of Econometrics, Statistics and Operations Research. The education period is 4 years and the language of education is Turkish.

Students who graduated from the Department of Econometrics; Ministry of Development, Turkey Statistical Institute (TUIK), Central Bank, the Capital Markets Board (CMB), Treasury, Ministry of Economy, all banks and research units in ministries, insurance and research as they can work in the company find a job in every business that employ economists in addition to they have the possibility.

Our department staff consists of 3 doctor lecturers and 2 research assistants. Academic and physical infrastructure studies of our Econometrics Department, which was established in 2012, continue. After the completion of these studies, the department will start accepting students.

Vision: When our department becomes active, it aims to educate students with a sense of rational thinking, high analysis ability, and social responsibility awareness, in addition to becoming a nationally preferred and recognized department in the field of econometrics, as well as owning Ataturk's principles and reforms.
